At the end of the 2016/17 NBA season, the Los Angeles Clippers faced a crossroads. Following several years of regular season success and playoff disappointment, the Clippers’ leadership looked to reboot the organization both on and off the court.
In 2017, the Clippers’ newly-promoted President of Basketball Operations, Lawrence Frank, engaged Sportsology to assist with a deep-dive of all basketball processes. The aim of the project was to restructure roles and realign key departments to deliver a healthier and more efficient organizational infrastructure.
Working in close partnership with Frank, Sportsology helped the Clippers to build a new leadership team and develop a strategy to build a roster with the talent and character to win a championship.
This bold organizational reset is bearing fruit. In 2019, the Clippers signed a pair of superstars in Paul George and Kawhi Leonard as the franchise continued to build a roster capable of challenging for the NBA title over multiple seasons.
“Sportsology has played a key role in helping our front office and coaching staff to understand our core identity and culture as a basketball organization. The methods they used to strategically capture, codify, and build our core processes challenged us to move to the next level as a team.”
